We're home and so happy to reunite the family. It was a great trip that each of us will remember forever. And I got to do it with one of my idols.
Given our eagerness to make it home earlier in the day today, we drove all the way into West Virginia, landing at an RV park outside Huntington. When we arrive home this afternoon, we will have logged 6,167 miles on the RV (plus another 691 on rental cars) and visited 20 states.

Also buried nearby are many other ancestors as well as Daniel Boone.
He supervised the 1864 defense of Frankfort against an attack by Confederate raiders and is buried here
One of the older homes in Frankfort, this is the house in which Daniel Weisiger Lindsey, Hunter's great-great-great grandfather, was born and raised. He formed a regiment of Union soldiers at the outbreak of the Civil War and rose to lead of all Kentucky Union Army forces.
We decided to skip Louisville and instead stop in Frankfort, which, despite all the states we've visited, is only our third state capital (we've driven through two others). Kentucky couldn't agree on placing the state capital in Louisville or Lexington, so Frankfort was picked.
After a couple of hours in Illinois, we are now in Indiana. Where is Kentucky?
We're crossing the southern tip of Illinois.
We headed back to the RV, racking up a total of 9.6 miles on the scooters, and got into the chlorinated non-spring fed pool at the RV park. Here's a view from the deck above the pool. We're only planning to go to Louisville tomorrow, there's time for other things here.
We then set out for the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis, which ended up being a bit further than we appreciated. We arrived there too late to check out the inside but were there to hear the bell at 7:00 p.m.
After a bit, we found another park from which there was a cooler shot of the Arch.
We made it to St. Louis around 5:00 p.m. today, and our RV park is actually downtown. We grabbed a couple of Bird stand-up scooters and headed to the riverfront to check out the St. Louis Arch.
We are now in Kansas City, here viewed from the National World War I Museum and Memorial.
We had a good night in Sioux City (albeit less than a 12 hour stay) and just drove into Omaha, Nebraska (a state in which neither of us has been before). Based on all the signs, we're apparently following the Lewis/Clark trek (in reverse), at least from central SD to St. Louis
We stopped in Mitchell, SD to stretch our legs and visit the world's only 'Corn Palace'.
Instead of heading east on I-90 directly from Rapid City, we took a 75 mile detour to drive through the Badlands. As with everything, the picture doesn't reflect how cool was the combination of shale rock formations and grasslands.
Actually, we are still in the park, as there's more to see.
We also found prairie dogs. Now it's time to drive to Iowa.
Based on a tip yesterday from good friend James Record, we made a last minute addition to check out Wildlife Loop in Custer State Park, and there were bison everywhere.
