10 Great Books on Work and Labour Economics
1) Streets of Gold - Abramitzky + Boustan
An incredibly impressive piece of economic history, breaking down many myths about the highly contentious topic of immigration. Great longitudinal analysis and well worth a read.
This year, the Comparative Politics section is pleased to award the Best Article Prize to Anna Grzymala-Busse (Stanford University) for, “Tilly Goes to Church: The Religious and Medieval Roots of European State Fragmentation,” American Political Science Review, 118(1), 88-107.
Or:
9. At the frontier, it is not clear whether (written) papers or (oral) seminars matter more...
From the outside, you only see the papers -- it looks like academia consists of the papers. On the inside, it's clear there's less reading and the seminars matter a lot
Congratulations to our 2023 Economics PhD graduates!
