It’s always best to sell what you’re most comfortable selling. You might think you should be selling digital services, because of scalability. But if you’re more natural selling campervan refits, or artwork, then you should do that. Your enthusiasm will shine through.

Was thinking about how much my productivity varies. For example, 6 hours of writing ads = fun. Easy. 2 hours of doing company accounts & VAT returns = boring Hard. How does everyone else mix those tasks up?

Had a call yesterday with a CFO, which went way off piste. Don’t be afraid to ask people ahead of you the right questions. As long as you’re asking from the right place, they’ll always want to help you. Got more in those 25 mins than I could have in 6 months of research.

You’re working with a new business sector, do you: 1. carry out some general research 2. do a few days of prep 3. watch every YouTube video you can on it and become an absolute expert Number 3 is so, so worth the time. Knowledge always pays off in sales calls.

Having just one offer as an agency is akin to having no diversification in a financial portfolio. Basically, you have no business resilience. Imagine offering just SEO - and google totally changes the game. You'd be in trouble! Solution: be great at several things 💪

Watch a Mr Beast video. He's already halfway through his first sentence as it starts. There's so much movement. Zero pauses. You're engaged in one second. Same with copy. Cut words. Cut filler. Action, action, action.

A friend posts on social all the time. His business is in a super niche! (Seismic data). He barely gets any engagement. So why do it? Every prospect checks social. By posting every 2 days against his competitors every 2 months, he wins. He’s flying! Post for silent buyers.

What % of creators and small agencies have a reliable & repeatable process for getting new clients? I’d say fewer than 5%. Coincidentally, those are also the businesses that don’t go bust. A method of consistent client acquisition should be your first priority.

Visited countless agency websites in last 30 days. 99% of them would have been better paying a copywriter instead of a designer. Content always beats flashy slow-loading graphics. Why do businesses do this?

Warm your email domains… I completely overlooked it when I started outreaching. Even with the best offer and email copy… If it doesn’t land, it doesn’t get opened. Don't waste your efforts.
