Say what you will, but @vercel is among the first cloud hosting providers to introduce hard spend limits. They've earned my respect for that. 🫡 The only other provider I've come across is @Railway.

If this happened in AWS you will still owe $19k in charges. If you're not enterprise and cannot afford this host your static sites in cloudflare pages if you need a server host in EC2, set up cloudwatch to turn off your EC2 if bandwidth usage is high or host in railway and setup…

You can use cloudwatch alarms to stop EC2 instances based on bandwidth usage. This makes AWS one of the safest places to host without worrying about surprise bills. No other provider offers an easy way to do this.

Rust might be bad for the Js ecosystem. If a feature isn't working in a third-party package, I can easily patch it if it's in JavaScript. In the case of Rust, only the compiled binaries are present in node_modules, I had an issue with turbo repo and had a hard time fixing it.

If your API returns 10kb of data, 1 million requests would amount to 10GB costing 1.09$ with EC2 just for egress. @Cloudflare workers will break even at 40ms of CPU time you're unlikely to exceed in most scenarios.

Really impressed with @pnpmjs patch functionality! Ran into an issue where @nx/js wasn't including peer deps of CJS modules in lock files, but a quick patch fixed it. #NodeJS #pnpm
