Had the pleasure of appearing on the Talks with Tech Leaders podcast recently. Great opportunity to reflect on the highs and lows of my 20-year career and the many lessons learned along the way. Available in your podcatcher, on YouTube and below.

Agree with this... as long as it's known up front that it will be thrown away. I inherited a proof of concept that hadn't been thrown away, instead it had been iterated on for a year and had already started to be sold - still paying off the technical debt on that 4 years later.

Don't think I've ever seen this before. Already felt that @posthog were one of the most consumer friendly companies out there (with an extremely generous free plan and self-hostable options). All power to companies that value customers over profit.
Doing a global, big bang release to kernel level software is mind blowing. $80b company not doing gradual rollouts 🤯 Can imagine there'll be a few heads rolling out the door soon though. Good luck to the support teams dealing with the chaos across the world.
The dream. @37signals approach to business is always such a breath of fresh air. Anybody who has ever worked with VCs and gone through the motions of following a clearly flawed plan that was drawn up during fund raising, will see the value in optionality.

Getting a robot check on every prompt of @ChatGPTapp today - guessing it's related to third party cookie blocking in @brave. Quick way to lose my £20 p/m if so.
Working on a legacy Node.js API this morning. It doesn't even have Typescript 😭 A little dose of Node really does make you appreciate ASP .NET. Spent half the morning dealing with type inconsistencies that the compiler would have caught.
Really liking @SlackHQ lists - nice place within Slack to capture feedback rather than having it spread across various channels.
Set ours up so everybody has to specify whether the feedback impacts a growth metric, otherwise it's a "nice to have" 😎
Moreover, the shelf life for most code is way shorter than people think it is. I reckon less than 50% of the code I've written in the past 10 years is still in production.

Saw a good job post the other day - non-technical founder looking to hire a technical co-founder, seemingly pre-product. No funds raised and explicitly said "expect to work overwork for the next 5 years".
The fact they can even say that pre-product tells me they've never done…
Every time I encounter Redux in an old React project I'm left wondering WTF were they thinking. Can't think of any project I've seen in my career where I've thought "what this project really needs is more layers of misdirection".
Consolidation not a bad thing in the React ecosystem in my mind. There should be standard ways of handling concerns like SSR, loading and actions. Remix the most standards compliant option I've come across so I'm happy to see this news.

Really great. First 10 minutes where they're talking about product prioritisation, making promises to customers, believing prospects when they tell you they'll buy if you just build the thing... that resonated. Hard.

Crazy to me that there are so many people not doing TDD and CD. Refactored over 200 files in the past two days, shipped to production many times as I did so, with no QA and had total confidence the whole time thanks to the tests.
I get there's a learning curve with TDD and I…
Very interesting read. I've definitely been guilty of this kind of behaviour in the past in the name of DX (especially when C# extension methods were first released), but as time has gone on I find that being explicit always leads to a better DX for those that come after you.

Leaving my laptop at home this weekend and about to break this streak 😅 I love a streak more than most, but when it comes to work I find it best to let it drop every now and then so I don't become anymore addicted than I already am. Back at it Monday though 💪
Received an email that a business I used to work for is under new ownership... and the owners are the team he outsourced development to 😬
