I’m facing a dilemma about how to handle subscription payments in Apple/Google app stores. At first, I was considering using @RevenueCat, but then I found out that Apple charges a 30% fee, which is quite steep for someone trying to keep the app’s subscription cost low. I read about @stripe external payments solution, which avoids the 30% fee for US users and reduces it to around 20% for EU users. I found about it in this tweet: x.com/AzianMike/stat… Do you have any experience with this solution? Are there any considerations I should be aware of? What approach do you use to tackle the subscription payments?
@doomprogrammer @RevenueCat consideration to be aware of: Apple charges 30% fee but you will likely see a higher conversion rate. (Also, fee is only 15% under small business program) YMMV, we @RevenueCat ran an experiment comparing IAP and app2web for one app revenuecat.com/blog/growth/ia…
@doomprogrammer @RevenueCat You’d have to be wildly successful to pay 30% (it’s 15% if you make less than a million / year). Also, conversion will drop significantly. Even apps paying 30% end up making less money even after taking into account the lower fees
