A quiet walk at Kynance this evening turned when @drage_james spotted a Hoopoe across the valley. This became better when that Hoopoe multiplied to two on the path infront of me. Just to finish off, a Purple Heron proceeded to fly in off the sea over one of the Hoopoes! @CBWPS1
Myself and @drage_james popped along to a Scilly rockpool safari led by @stmarys_patch today, resulting in 4 new species for me: my long-awaited Candy-striped Flatworm & Rosy Feather-star found by other participants, along with self-found Gangly Lancer sea spider & Dover Sole!
Returning home from a mind-blowing @UniExeCEC Scottish Field Trip. A whole suite of Scottish specialities and great wildlife encounters. 115 bird sp inc Wood Warb, Black Grouse, Crested Tit, Hen Harrier, 2 Eagle sp and crippling views of all 3 diver sp.
Thanks to @drage_james for finding my first Azure Hawker in Scotland this afternoon!
8 Tern species in 5 days! Started off with the Gull-billed Tern at Snapwick Heath in Somerset before finishing off in Northumberland this week, adding Bridled, American Black, Little, Roseate, Sandwich, Common and Arctic Tern! Roseate, Black and Bridled being lifers!
A few photos from a day featuring 7 tern species in Northumberland on the way up to Scotland.
6 tern day in Northumberland including 3 lifers! First Arctics, Littles and the American Black at Long Nanny and then Bridled, Roseates, Sarnies and more Arctics at Coquet Island. Now off to Scotland!
First stop on our way up to Scotland was a big success with 3 butterfly lifers - plenty of Large and Adonis Blues and a Duke of Burgundy - along with lots of Small Blue and some nice chalk plants at Rodborough Common in Gloucestershire!
Nomada sp. found by @drage_james at Lowland Point on the Lizard in West Cornwall today. It keys nicely to N. subcornuta which would be a very good record. No Andrena nigrospina but lots of A. pilipes on site. @StevenFalk1 can I get your thoughts please?

Nothing like 3 Humpback Whales just down the road to end a posting hiatus! Two unique dorsal shapes in pics below, 3rd got away. Sociable Lapwing at Ruan Lanihorne and some good rockpooling (sea slug-Placida dendritica) the other highlights of the year so far…
When I popped down to Pendennis Point with my parents this afternoon for a little walk, I wasn't expecting to find a Humpback Whale! It got even better when it was joined by another two! All three showed very well until dusk. They certainly drew a crowd! @MarineWatchSU
I'm incredibly grateful to @BenHancockSmit1 for managing to capture the unbelievable moment one of today's 3 Pendennis Humpback Whales breached, drawing audible gasps from the hundreds gathered at the point, and for letting me post the pics here. What a moment!

Swanpool completely sheltered this morning despite crazy winds elsewhere. And stormies absolutely everywhere!! 210 euros and 3 leach's IDable since 10:45 with loads more on the horizon we couldn't do anything with! @drage_james @CBWPS1
Monday was a day of mixed successes in W Cornwall… it started very well with the 5 Lesser and 2 presumed nearctica Greater Scaup along with Hen Harrier and YLG at Drift, and Hayle delivered the goods with GWT and Spoonbill. Pity we dipped every single other bird in Cornwall 😅
