@drkeishagreen So powerful you're modeling that for your pre-service Ts. My own research has been shaped by my discovery of video essayists on YouTube discussing/interpreting cultural texts & phenomena with HUGE audiences. Hoping to bring some content creators to NCTEs screening room next year!
A6: YES! So many of my favorite lessons, ideas, tools, strategies, etc. came from outside of traditional K12 instructional spaces: the arts, philosophy, psychology, cultural studies, YouTube, design, podcasts, Discords, fan forums, etc. #literacies is expansive y'all!

A5: As a teacher of #literacies still early-ish in my career I struggle to sift through the many requirements I already have to adhere to then make my lessons humanizing. How do we juggle all of our responsibilities to leave room to humanize our work for the sake of our Ss?
Q5: Engaging in humanizing practices is important in the pursuit of equity. In what ways have you worked to engage in humanizing your work, whether that is in your own classroom or in your fieldwork? #literacies
A5: In both my practice/research, I'm very passionate about finding ways to create "third spaces" where Ss lifeworld #literacies are placed in dialogue with disciplinary literacies in ways that not only grant access to discourses of power, but try to remix/re-imagine them too.

@carolinebeding right... acknowledging the high stakes-ness of the moment and yet pushing on... to still train teachers who will teach AP Af Am studies! #literacies
A3: We can def aid TCs in growing confidence in teaching & also in growing their own understanding of identity. The HB1084 may scare these TCs & current teachers away from teaching for real truth, but that only harms our Ss & benefits the idea of an “objective truth.” #literacies
