#schindlerslist is on BBC2 right now. Masterpiece. I forget I’m watching a drama as it feels so real. It depicts unimaginable atrocity but at least gives that glimmer of hope and survival when you see how the Schindler Jews went on to have generations of ancestors.

The natural rebuttal to this is that "doctors make mistakes too". We know, and we try to prevent it at all costs. The difference is that we make mistakes with the gold standard of education and training. How does removing those standards for cheaper alternatives make sense?

Second, this flawed model (and it is flawed) is not the cause of problems in GP services. The problem is that even the level of earnings that this system permits is not enough to persuade doctors to take on the extraordinary workload and stress being a modern GP involves.
