The United States should not wage war against Iran. Donald Trump’s bombing of Iran is unconstitutional. Only Congress can declare war — and the Senate must vote immediately to prevent another endless war. This is a horrific war of choice.
Donald Trump illegally took military action against Iran—without congressional authorization—risking dragging us into another endless war. I am calling for an immediate emergency session of Congress to vote on the War Powers Resolution.
1st Iraq war: Congress voted. Afghanistan War: Congress voted. 2nd Iraq War: Congress voted. Syria War: Congress refused. Let’s not pretend any President has authority to engage in a war without a vote and without funding from Congress. The Constitution requires we vote.
The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers. He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations. It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment.
I do sometimes wonder what they have on him.
