@MathewsFiona In an ideal world that would be lovely. But in the real world there isn't enough natural food for our hedgehogs to eat. They are red listed, on the brink of extinction, because they are starving to death, as all those on the front line know. You could help by encouraging feeding.

This news and views aritical is about the biodiversity change in non- grazed fields with the addition of light and fertilizer. Im not supprised that there is less diversity in with the addition of fertilizer, wild species prefer reduced nutrients nature.com/articles/d4158… #EBE2022

Dont let the image food you, this study looks at the importance of carrion for a thriving ecosystem. The scavengers and even predators, tend to over winter at lower altitudes in order to survive and carrion can help with that. esajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ec… #EBE2022
