@farzanadoctor All I could think of, watching this clip, is that so much of current #CanLit is post-colonial. Why would they boo these protestors?
@farzanadoctor If this were a movie--and the people in expensive clothes, drinking cocktails were booing young people for protesting genocide--I wonder who the bad guys would be?
@farzanadoctor may be they just write romcoms and thrillers. This is all I see on bookshelves any way.
@farzanadoctor to preserve and advance western civilization?
@farzanadoctor @anndouglas All the more reason not to read their dreadful books.
@farzanadoctor This doesn’t bother me at all. Protesting against genocide is more important than an award show. It’s too bad the Giller Prize became endorsed by Scotiabank. It has, unfortunately, sullied the award’s reputation. It seems no one can resist corporate sponsorship these days.
@farzanadoctor I'm truly, truly disappointed in so many people right now. Booing people protesting against genocide! How despicable
@farzanadoctor I am a writer who celebrated the interruption and was shocked and ashamed of the passivity then boos.
@farzanadoctor The Boo'ing was awful. Praise for the protestors. That was a huge platform for Scotiabank. It was a necessary moment to protest.
