44,444 words into Faust book two... Currently titled The Second Son. Book one, The First Folio, is having another proofread by someone and I need to figure out a damned cover for it. Other than that, it's nice to have that novel banked and waiting.

KDP and IngramSpark accounts created. Cover concept in progress. Tutorials on epub compilation / print layout being watched. Another re-read underway. I'm doing what I can with this book. The First Folio - Book One of the Faust Quartet - will be released this year.

That's a wrap. All edits now in the electronic file. Now sitting just over 94K words. I have back matter and blurb work to do and to get the ebook out to a few early readers ahead of releasing to the world later this year.

Three chapters and an epilogue to go and I'm all done with my final pass on Faust: The First Folio. Been interesting and does prove that it wasn't ready to query. That said, I don't for a minute think it will successfully hook an agent. If it didn't before, it won't now.

I'm currently taking the red pen comments from my printed copy of Faust: The First Folio and getting those changes into the @ScrivenerApp project. Fewer than a hundred pages left to go. We're on the home stretch and then this book is done and ready for ARCs. #amwriting

That's not a stack of blank paper. That's the completed red-pen read through of my novel, Faust: The First Folio. Next job... Edit all the red squiggles into the manuscript and call it done. Once done, I'll be sending out ebook ARCs. If anyone fancies receiving one, let me know.

What's in a name, I hear you ask. A rose by any other name... I'm changing the name of a central character in my Faust WIP books. It'll be more readable and look less like a spelling mistake. I've done it before. Percy Selbit became Gabriel Switch. Decision made. #amwriting

I know there will be people out there who will enjoy this book and then the quartet (I'm calling it a quartet). So let's get this thing out into the wild. We'll take a look and make a call on KDP versus IngramSpark, but I'll get this out there and then follow up with book two.

My querying journey for Faust just hasn't given me any actionable feedback that I can use to either tune my query letter, or the first few chapters, or my list of agents. No query earned me a second look. I could keep chasing new agents with amended chapters and still fail.

Would I go back to querying the Faust series? Look, I'd love to be traditionally published - to work with a team, to have the backing of a partner, to see my book in an actual shop... All that sounds incredible. But it's just not happening.

Editing chapter by chapter, line by line. So useful to switch to a different medium. Reading it back feels so different and I'm finding things I want to sharpen all the way through. Importantly, I'm enjoying engaging with this book on a whole new level.
