@gavinski_s I can’t recall if he wrote that or not, I know with Star Wars he kept trying to get others to write it for him, but was so wrapped up in the mythology of it that no one really could. Also interesting to note that apocalypse now was originally his project…
@gavinski_s That book well worth a read for anyone wondering about why it became such a phenomenon; while self admittedly not a great writer, Lucas is a really interesting artist who explored much farther than he dared imagine (he thought he’d end up making arty docs until he met Coppola…)
@gavinski_s Interestingly, I finally got round to reading the making of Star Wars book that’s been sitting on my shelves for years, then watched the original (despecialized edition to be precise) and while it’s still classic, I could feel how clunky it was in comparison to the modern stuff..
@gavinski_s It’s not too bad, I went back to see pod racing sequence again - even just the sound design, never mind impression of speed! Darth Maul cool as well, lots of lovely sequences now I think, that one in the laser shields🔥 and the ships/40s feel is ace, different flavour for sure…

@gavinski_s Yes, I suspect it is because journalists for general publications have to be generalists and it is hard to fact-check everything. I find issues with articles I’ve been interviewed for (not music stuff; in my career). The useful insight is that the same thing happens everywhere.
@gavinski_s I have found it to be universally true that when there is a general press article on something in which I am expert, it is riddled with at least small errors. So much so that I assume the same applies to the many more things in which I am not an expert.

@gavinski_s I gotta make more use of loopy, even if it’s just as a totally awesome control surface interpreter. There’s quite some power there.
@gavinski_s Yeah “hard” doesn’t even begin to describe it. Spotify is trying not to pay folks these days; my bandcamp collects dust most months; truth be told if music wasnt the only way I could express myself I’d have quit by now
@gavinski_s Exactly. I was trying to make music in at least 2014 with DAWs like Meteor and Auria Pro before everyone said don’t bother it crashes too often 😄. Plus the Korg apps have been around for years too.
We've spent time with most of the available apps for making music on iPad, and this loop station, DAW, and sampler combo is the best free (and paid) app around. wired.trib.al/8jNmutf

@gavinski_s The pacing of the series felt very slow in the first couple of episodes. Im enjoying it though
@gavinski_s I loved the film - which is much better than the series I think. The latter is beautifully shot but I too am unconvinced by the casting
