Literally, a lady just knocked on my front door asking if "I was a reporter?" And "Could I help?" She's afraid for her safety. She's been to several police stations who won't assist. The 'thing' (Man is not right the word) has AVOs out on him on three states, he's following her and her counsellor told her to 'go the media' and 'not another with [Victoria] Police. It's all rather messy. A sister allegedly sleeping with police and the stalker (former boyfriend of lady who knocked on door) As a male journo, I don't feel it appropriate that I report on women's issues. Are there any female journo's out there willing to speak to this lady? I'm hoping to have more details later today or tomorrow. If so, pls DM me before we add this woman to the list of women killed by male violence this year. Please & thank you.
I have just spoken to the woman concerned, who will be here in a few hours, according to her. After the call, I just did a 'walk past' of her home, she is safe and OK. I will be keeping an eye out. I have other (legal) means of doing so.
@geelanmedia @MFWitches any chance you can help here? Thank you for giving her a safe place and believing her. Many of us struggle to be heard and believed
@geelanmedia What has being make got to do with it? If you’re a reporter then run with it.
@geelanmedia That's exactly the reason you should be reporting it. The more males supporting women against this outrage the better.
@geelanmedia At this point in time I'll admit, sadly, that you are likely to get more traction as a man reporting it. If it's a female reporting it, even in MSM, it will get shrugged off as just another woman crying wolf. Do what you feel is best. Well support and reshare where we can
