10. Buy more in decline. Price movements always happen. If the stock becomes cheaper without any change in fundamentals, you have to buy more. If you liked it at $10, you must love it $6. You must have emotional strength to buy lower.

9/ Diversify. As by betting on growth stories, you are basically acting more like Venture Capitalists. You can’t afford to have concentrated portfolio like Warren Buffett or Bill Ackman. You need to broadly diversify to mitigate the effect of luck.

8/ Wait patiently. Growth companies need “time” to grow. They need time to open new stores, get new licenses and regulatory approvals from different states. Don’t expect them to double overnight. Average Peter Lynch stock took 4 years to play out.

7/ Don’t attempt market timing. Nobody can predict: • Stock market crash. • Interest rates. • Inflation. They are just noise in the long term. Only thing you can do is picking good companies and sticking with them.

6/ Look for the story. Ask questions like: • How many stores it can have? • How many states it can spread to? • How quickly it can double its stores? Try to understand whether the answers you come up with are actually achievable. Craft a reasonable story.

5/ Strong Fundamentals Peter Lynched wanted companies to have strong fundamentals. He would look for: • More equity than debt. • Debt/EBITDA less than 5. • Interest coverage of at least 2. He knew growth stocks were risky so he wanted them to have strong balace sheets.

4/ Look at the track record. If the company didn’t have a consistent growth in the past, it won’t likely have one in the future. Look for: • +10% annual revenue growth. • +15% return on equity. • Stable profit margin. These are essential elements of high quality growth.

3/ Eliminate expensive stocks. Peter Lynch thought a fairly valued stock’s PE ratio would be equal to its earnings growth rate. He would eliminate the stocks that have higher PE ratio than annual earnings growth rate.

2/ Pick a fast-grower in a slow growing industry. There are two types of fast growers: - Fast growers in fast growth industries. - Fast growers in slow growth industries. Peter Lynch looked for the second group as he thought fast growing industries were open to disruption.

1/ Know what you own. Peter Lynch divided companies into 6 groups: • Cyclicals • Stalwarts • Asset Plays • Turnarounds • Fast-Growers • Slow-Growers He would first categorize the company to set the expectation right. He would exlusively pick fast-growing companies.
