This is our weather today in Ennis, MT. A huge cold front blew in today & it's still blowing!! Smoke from wildfires is all the way to the ground.

Last one! Lower falls of the Yellowstone River. Click for full affect. This was my last stop in the Yellowstone National Park. We had a 2.5 hr drive back to my friend's house. I chose not to go to the Geyser Basin on this trip. That is a full day's visit to do it justice.

The last place I wanted to see was Artist Point at the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River. I forgot how breath taking it is! This is where Yellowstone gets its name. French fur trappers called it Roche Jaune, which literally means yellow stone, from the rock in the canyon.

The only other wildlife we saw was this bison bull chewing his cud in a post breakfast/lunch coma. Don't worry, I was in no danger. He didn't even know I was there. It's like that in Yellowstone. Some days you see nothing BUT wildlife, some days, no wildlife at all.

We're at the Mount Washburn parking area on Chittendon Road. I zoom in on the Fire Lookout and then pan to the Lamar Valley. Unfortunately, it was smokey yesterday - the wind blew smoke in from wildfires in Montana over night

Mount Washburn was one of the first hikes I did in 1986. It's only 4 miles round trip - 2 miles to the Lookout, 2 miles back. But it's steep & you are at over 10,000' in elevation at the top. We are just under 10,000' feet in the parking lot.

Next stop on the way up Mount Washburn. An interpretive sign explaining where the famous Yellowstone Caldera is. I worked in the Interpretation Division in the National Park Service, which posts these signs. This is the heart of the cauldera. Very risky for me to film this.🌋😂

Captured this sweet female Mountain Goat attempting to cross the mountain slope to join her herd. She literally froze in place when she realized people were near - across the highway taking pictures. I took this from the car window while zipping past.

I went with a friend. We worked in the Park together years ago. 1st stop - Gibbon Falls. The last time I was here, the forest was still black, not yet recovered from the North Fork Fire in 1988 that burnt this area to a crisp. Now, you can't even tell a fire came thru.

So a did a thing yesterday. I went to the Park. I haven't been back since I left in 1998, except for a few drive thrus on the north end from Mammoth to Cooke City MT at the NE Entrance. 27 years. This is the West Entrance at West Yellowstone.
