Problem: A PR is too big and contains unrelated changes. Solution: 1. Prefix the big PR's name with "WIP" so the team knows it's not ready. 2. Open small, focused PRs that contain portions of the big PR. 3. Merge the small PRs. Now the big PR is smaller, and ready to review.👍

Today’s software is like gardening thought: I just cut down more invasive trees (Bradford Pears & Honeysuckle). It’s a never ending battle. Imported from a foreign land and then they endlessly multiply. Reminds me of “I can write JAVA in any language.”

Stop using "underlying conditions" as a euphemism for a somehow acceptable/expected death. Neo-eugenic vibe. "Underlying conditions" don't stop people living vibrant, active, purposeful lives. *Most humans* have some kind of underlying condition. Being alive is riddled with them

Common problem: "We don't have time to improve our process". "We don't have time to mock the APIs" = waste time with flakey calls. "We don’t have time to automate releases" = waste time manually deploying. "We don't have time to write tests" = waste time manually testing.

Some people work best at home. Some people work best in an office. Some people will find happiness in a hybrid model. IMO the most productive workplace would be one that trusts their employees to make the decision that works best for them and their family.

We need to normalize telling gatekeepers to fuck right off. I've written tech books, run conferences, and been in the industry for "I am old" years & I am fucked if I can remember what order to put the file and link using ln and a thousand other pieces of trivial syntax.

Holy cow someone I know was defrauded by a live-caller man-in-the-middle attack They did a bad charge to the card, then called the victim pretending to be the credit card company saying “hey did you make this charge? No? Ok we can get rid of it, first verify some info for us”
