There is a new Silva reference for taxonomic assignment in DADA2. Key improvements: (1) More complete coverage of Bacteria and Archaea, (2) Species-level designations (and thus species-level assignments) are now available. zenodo.org/record/3986799

Synthetic long reads are back, and they're better than ever. In a new preprint, we evaluate @LGenomics LoopSeq technology. 99.995% accurate reads out to (at least) 6kb in simple and complex samples. From an Illumina sequencer. biorxiv.org/content/10.110… #NCStateMicrobiome
