A good many of us now have a 3D printer. If you could have any other fabrication tool in your lab, what would you get?
@hackaday A CNC Mill. Additive is awesome but sometimes you just need to sculpt by hoggin out some good ol chips.
@hackaday Small CNC. Laser can be put on ether 3d printer or CNC.
@hackaday Laser cutters complement a 3D printer. Of course if someone would gift me a CNC, I would operate it 24/7, but even a cheap CO2 laser can cut and engrave wood and acrylic really fast, so you can make enclosures or similar stuff.
@hackaday I need it. But I'm low on kidneys. matterhackers.com/store/l/mayku-…
@hackaday A large enough CNC mill..... But space is a premium sadly :(
@hackaday I've had most non-CNC controlled fabrication tools. The only one I absolutely could not do without is a cordless power drill.
@hackaday Got a CNC a few months ago, so now I can add AND subtract !
@hackaday Funny thing. Bought a Creality Ender 3 at least a few years ago and it is still sitting, completely sealed, in the original shipping box. My own fault. Wasted $300. Never found a need for it. Can find or fabricate what I need from other sources. But I just "had" to have it. 🤓🙄
@hackaday Vinyl cutter,CNC Lathe/mill And a good desoldering station Not even to recycle, things like changing the potentiometers (joystick) of consoles, especially Playstation (double sided soldering). It's a pain with a manual suction desoldering pump
@hackaday 5 axis CNC mill, CNC lathe, SLS Metal 3d Printer, autoclave, vacuum chamber, bunker...
@hackaday Currently converting a small lathe to CNC, I'd take a nice out of the box solution though!
@hackaday Receivers.... lots of lower receivers
@hackaday CNC mill But I'd need a lab first I don't have a 3D printer, either I have an apartment full of roaches, a decent desktop PC, & some breadboarding gear
@hackaday I'd really like a laser cutter, with associated air filtration system. Not exactly sure what I'd *do* with it, but the laser *engraving* side of my Snapmaker Original (which they're no longer supporting, ever since the 2.0 version came out) doesn't have any air systems...
@hackaday A good CNC mill for making aluminum parts would be great.
@hackaday Whatever taked a 3D picture of an object and makes a blueprint for a 3D printer or laser cutter. I need new knobs for my stove top, but they are stupid expensive!
@hackaday I built a laser cuter, a pcb engraver, cnc-coverted a bench mill and i have a voron 2. Just got a shipment of parts for a printnc. So im pretty much all set for now 😄
@hackaday If I had a bigger attic or garage, I'd build a large CNC mill for woodwork, and maybe a smaller one for more precision and for metal work.
