What is VPC in AWS? Virtual Private Connection(VPC) is like a private network; it isolates and protects its resources from the outside world. It allows other services like RDS, S3, etc, to communicate with each other securely over this private network

Added auth microservice to my Spring Boot Patient-Management project to generate a jwt token while logging in and validate that token while accessing other protected routes. Learning a lot while integrating each microservice. The verbosity is overwhelming, but it is what it is!!

What are API Gateways? They are used when the client needs to interact with multiple microservices. Instead of manually dealing with each microservice separately, the api gateway acts as a central point that routes requests to all the microservices

By using Kafka instead of Synchronous communication, a huge advantage is that we can add new microservices without changing the existing code. The new microservice will subscribe to the Kafka topic, and it will receive the messages automatically without any additional logic

Set up Docker containers for patient-service and patient-service-db microservices & successfully ran them. Learnt about GRPC as it is needed for microservices internal communication. It is very cool actually, excited to implement it and play around with it in the coming days

ProtoBuff in GRPC is basically a binary format of data. To setup GRPC we need a .proto file. This file defines the server, how requests are sent & how responses are received. This .proto file can be used to generate the GRPC client & server for our microservices.

What is the diff between REST and GRPC? While REST uses json & is mainly used in client-server communication, GRPC uses protobuff, which offers high speed & efficient communication and is mainly used in internal service communication between microservices, making the app faster
