This year was the #50thAnniversaryBCNDP #ALR, April 18, 1973. The Eby NDP celebrated with Red Bull & increased speculation by removing up to 28,000 acres for agritech. Please tell me how Red Bull is a food? Is it the name? How are imported coffee beans a BC agricultural product?
My story in the Delta optimist on the Agricultural Land Reserve. . It's the #50thAnniversaryBCNDP and the #ALR adopted in 1973. How the Agricultural Land Reserve transformed BC's landscape delta-optimist.com/weatherhood-lo… via @DeltaOptimist
Exactly 50 years ago we predicted mega drought in California & the US SW & dry springs in Texas and the US Great Plains as they were already draining the aquifers. It is one of the main n reasons Dave Barrett's #50thanniversaryBCNDP established the #ALR insideclimatenews.org/news/15082023/…
Exactly 50 years ago the Dave Barrett #BCNDP passed legislation that changed the course of history of British Columbia. Only 5% of BC is arable farmland, saved by the Agricultural Land Reserve. It's the #50thanniversaryBCNDP #ALR April 18, 2023. dawsoncreekmirror.ca/opinion/opinio…
#50thAnniversaryBCNDP, 100 ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE DAVE BARRETT GOVERNMENT (1972-1975) Times were bad. Change was needed. Barrett said, "Are we in for a good time or for a long time?" @Dave_Eby could learn from this mickleblog.wordpress.com/2018/02/19/100…
Its the #50thAnniversaryBCNDP Dave Barrett Govt. When Columbia Cellulose shut down Forests Minister Bob Williams bought the company & used govt resources to run it better, instead of giving them a $50M subsidy vancouversun.com/news/local-new…
Good News from @nathancullen It's 50 years since the Barrett NDP tried to enact a marine strategy. We banned offshore oil drilling but estuary & coastal zone protection was deleted from the Land Commission Act & we only saved #ALR #50thAnniversaryBCNDP news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2022W…
@suedhodgesgmai1 @Sasha_Djakovic Dave Barrett spoke at the 30th anniversary of the #ALR A number of speakers at the 40th. With #SiteC, threat of industry on 28,000ac of farmland & loss of @lanapopham as Agriculture Minister we probably won't celebrate the ALR's 50th Anniversary & #50thAnniversaryBCNDP this year
@Norm_Farrell BC Hydro was planning #SiteC before the #50thAnniversaryBCNDP Dave Barrett govt was elected in 1972. Barrett stopped them & instructed them to attend an alternative energy show I initiated at the PNE. They came up with burning Hat Creek coal. We fought it.They went back to Site C
With a $5.7 billion surplus now's the time for @Dave_Eby to bring back reforms of the #50thAnniversaryBCNDP Dave Barrett Government. The day he appointed his cabinet he instructed them to bring in reforms in every ministry, over 350 bills in 3 1/2 yrs, #ALR, health, housing, etc.

@AshleyZarbatany The way the Cabinet system works favours total allegiance. WAC Bennett required cabinet ministers to sign their resignation before appointing them. In the #50thAnniversaryBCNDP Barrett govt several of us decided to forgo cabinet so we could disagree in caucus & public
@Bobs_synergy @bcndp #50thAnniversaryBCNDP Dave Barretts NDP Government bought a private company Dunhill Developments Ltd & all their property & expertise. It was used for social housing. The apartment towers at #2Rd & Blundell, #RichmondBC for seniors & disadvantaged, were the 1st govt housing in BC
Anjali hasn't given up on the @bcndp. That's one solution & happened before. In the 60's we had an environment & socialist caucus.Tom Berger led the party & lost. By 1972 we had a majority on the NDP executive, wrote the party policy, Dave Barrett ran & won. #50thAnniversaryBCNDP

@Evildrum13 @AnjaliApp @bcndp A party with "a balance between environment and progressive values" is what the #50thAnniversaryBCNDP Dave Barrett government once was. A new party would force the @bcndp to return to its roots and reverse its environmental policies or face defeat.
Here's an excellent diagram of @bcndp values. The green Circle represents the CCF & orange represents Labour when the NDP was founded in 1961. Both circles represent the #50thAnniversaryBCNDP 1972 Dave Barrett Govt. The right half of the orange circle represents NDP values today

#50thAnniversaryBCNDP Todays @bcndp promotes conspiracy theories claiming a "hostile" takeover by the small 3-4000 member Greens. When the IWA took over the NDP I was ousted as VP & IWA members stacked constituency meetings & took over the NDP Environment Caucus. That's hostile!
#50thAnniversaryBCNDP In 1961 the Agrarian CCF & Labour united to form the NDP & resulted in the Dave Barrett @bcndp of 1972. In the 1980's the IWA ousted environmentalists & took control in the "War of the Woods" Now they are coming back. Party Back! thetyee.ca/News/2022/10/0…
@suestroud @LynnPerrin9 @bcndp @david_eby #50thAnniversaryBCNDP One of the 1st things the Dave Barrett NDP govt did after being elected, Aug 30, 1972, was buy Dunhill Developments Ltd & their land. We built seniors towers & affordable, accessible housing at No 2 Rd + Blundell in #RichmondBC & Co-ops throughout the region
