NCAA actually has made some adjustments just recently. There is a new transfer rule that says student athletes are now capable of transferring unlimited without the penalty of sitting out. This is a step closer in the right direction!! @abhornUCRedu #ucr150
@Zinnaahaamm @abhornUCRedu Totally agree! It is time to prioritize the student-athletes instead of money because they are living being that should be care and given the same rights as any students. Letting athletes be employees, if not students! With full scholarship and medical rights @annaaacha #ucr150
Despite promoting academic and athletic success, the rules can trap plays in situations that don't align with their goals. It's time for the NCAA to address the hypocrisy and prioritize student-athletes instead of institutions @abhornUCRedu #ucr150
@Chesweetheart @annaaacha To keep college sports honest and to look out for the athletes best interests, it is important to find a balance between the sports program's financial needs and the rights and goals of the athletes. #ucr150 @abhornUCRedu
If the NCAA truly cared about their student athletes they would provide additional support for those interested in the transfer process.Unfortunately they are only interested in limiting their opportunities in an attempt to protect their image.#ucr150 @abhornUCRedu
@Chesweetheart @annaaacha 100% like this institutions will find a way to blame their own students! At the expense of these college athletes and if they could to go against the 4-4 transfer rule than will no longer be able to play a sport ! #ucr150 @annaaacha
Under the 4-4 Transfer Rule, athletes are required to complete one full academic year of residence at a certifying institution before they are deemed eligible to compete #UCR150 @abhornUCRedu
@yvera003 @abhornUCRedu It’s quite interesting that the ones providing this revenue are penalized the most. They bring in all this money and are still not given options. #ucr150 @abhornUCRedu
@AgredanoJohana @annaaacha Agreed, it's illogical to state that athletes that are upperclassmen require the same entire year of residency as freshman to obtain eligibility to play. Once again amateurism has been used as a thin veil for denying athletes their rights. #ucr150 @annaaacha
The NCAA 4-4 transfer rule states a student-athlete must complete an academic year in residence (two full-time semesters) at a new 4 year school unless they can use an NCAA transfer exception. NCAA allows underclassmen to transfer w/o sitting out a yr. @abhornUCRedu #UCR150
Protecting the institutions and coaches investments upon athletic wanting to transfer by penalizing with policy such as residency penalty is horrendous. To restrict freedom, personal objective, and goals just to be kept in a money generating environment is sad #ucr150 @annaaacha
NCAA continue to be hypocrites to their own rules.“ academic come first”but yet when it comes to the restrictions, academic is the most restricted and only appears once in the rules as an exception.4-4 transfer rule is just another form of power for the NCAA. #ucr150 @annaaacha
Something that caught my eye in this weeks reading is that NCAA has a rule where athletes are only able to transfer once. However, NCAA has just recently changed the rule to allow athletes to transfer as many times as they want without receiving penalty #UCR150 @abhornUCRedu
NCAA transfer rules unfairly limit opportunities for revenue-sport athletes, raising serious concerns about fairness and equity. #UCR150 @annaaacha
@AgredanoJohana @annaaacha Such a good point! It’s a bit suspicious that other students do not have these consequences when choosing a better path for themselves. #ucr150 @annaaacha
The NCAA works so hard to prove that athletes are still students above all. Why are they the only students with restrictions to transfer? If school always comes first, why would athletes be limited when trying to transfer? Colleges, they are not your property! #ucr150 @annaaacha
Restrictions on college athletes and them transferring is unfair. They should be allowed to transfer like any other college student. It’s unreasonable for transfers to sit out a year to focus on school, while first years get to play. #UCR150 @abhornUCRedu m.youtube.com/watch?v=YntPTc…
The NCAA fights so hard to keep legally identifying their athletes as students rather than employees, so why do they make it so hard for athletes to transfer to other 4-year colleges/teams? Wouldn't it help better their educational experience? #ucr150 @abhornUCRedu
@cortez85218 @abhornUCRedu i agree that athletes have to sacrifice and suffer under these transfer rules making it tougher on the athletes. #ucr150 @abhornUCRedu
