Don't track story points. Track stories. Actual throughput (average stories delivered to customers per unit time) is the only metric you need. "Working software is the primary measure of progress."

I worked with the same team on the same product for 12 months. For the first 6 months we used poker planning to produce forecasts, for the latter, we counted the stories. There was no discernible difference in the accuracy of the forecasting but we saved 130 hours in 6 months.

@galleman @duarte_vasco The same way as the brain surgeon is not allowing the hospital administration (manager, finance) to participate in life saving aggressive tumor removal surgery. The team is focused on solving problems and getting things done. #noestimates #coders

@GeePawHill nb Jeff neither called for nor organized that meeting. Uncle Bob requested a manifesto-writing meeting, and I organized it. Jeff participated as much as the other 16 people there, no more, no less.

This is the sort of historical revisionism and weak reporting that seriously pisses me off. Sutherland did not invent Scrum in the 80s, Scrum is not the founder of agile, there were 17 people involved, etc etc. That HBR is passing this along is seriously bad history/reporting

The "Scrum came first" thing is corporate propaganda intended to give legitimacy to the certificate mills. I've even seen offensive garbage like "When Jeff Sutherland invented Agile..." Give me a break!

If people are bored with (or otherwise hate) ceremonies, perhaps the problem is that they're ceremonies instead of productive discussions and work. Skip the idiotic formulas and templates and just talk. Plain old communication works wonders.

When you hear about project failure from #NoEstimates advocates like @duarte_vasco, ask if they’ve read and understood systems engineering principles described in tinyurl.com/y7evufo7 to avoid root causes the examples they describe

@galleman @duarte_vasco the root cause of many project failures are excel & powerpoint operators & coffee servants called scrum master or agile coaches disturbing reals software devs to do their work in peace. that is why #noestimates is gaining rapidly in popularity much faster than covid is spreading
