@htmx_org Reinvent the wheel without breaking back compat. Right that makes sense </sarcasm>
@htmx_org Every time I hear "don't reinvent the wheel" I just picture a Ferrari with wooden wheels from some medieval peasant cart.
@htmx_org Just got put on a team that is a prime example of this, may drop this in the chat on monday 😇😇😇
@htmx_org We are destroying software by preaching "build fast, break things" We are destroying software by teaching "if you're not embarrassed by your first release, you're too late"
@htmx_org The problem I see is that, most of the programmers now a days do software development for the money and not for the sake of being a professional programmer and causes collateral effect.
@htmx_org what is this supposed to mean? i thought it was reversed biag la nasil doesn't make sense tho are you french?
@htmx_org Not all of us. Use Cuis Smalltalk instead.
@htmx_org @jonathoda we are destroying software by enshrining inferior languages, and toolchains, with various flabby excuses Too busy digging with dessert spoons to see the bulldozer demonstration now about to compensate with AI, which will generate ever taller piles of code that no human can fix
@htmx_org TLDR: WE ARE DESTROYING SOFTWARE BY WRITING IT!
@htmx_org "complex build systems" My interest in Zig took a nosedive when I saw the expected way that you configure dependencies with it. Go solved this problem literally a decade and a half ago and almost every language since has purposefully run in the opposite direction.
@htmx_org With AI, I think there is a possibility of writing UI in C and compiling directly to an executable that loads in the browser. If all we have to do is chat in english and AI is writing the code, then this is pretty doable.
@htmx_org We are destroying software by making whole businesses out of infrastructure software, selling Cloud versions and funnelling in new users with the "Community" edition. The fact that this guy is moral grandstanding and being applauded for it shows a valid angle of software dying.
@htmx_org You are destroying software making politics and wokeness before quality
@htmx_org @vxunderground we are making malware not software
@htmx_org Powerful. I will quote this on slack the day I want to be fired.
@htmx_org We're destroying software using AI, which absolutely doesn't know what it's doing
@htmx_org Talk is cheap. Show me the code.
@htmx_org Sadly the joy of hacking does not pay my mortgage
@htmx_org I would blame the creation and mass usage of frameworks
@htmx_org The only code comment I will ever write is a TODO that won’t get DONE. But maybe I’m just exceptionally good at naming things.
@htmx_org Chain of dependencies here is very true, thinking about how a single node module can add so many more as dependencies and how bad it would be for a supply chain attack...
@htmx_org It's the short term goals of stakeholders, PMs, maintainers that lead to this behaviour. Speed above everything else. Code is written and shipped and instantly becomes 'someone else's problem'.
