Adolescents tend to crave one thing above all others—engaging with peers. In the right context, it can inspire and challenge them intellectually; help them learn important real-world skills, such as teamwork and communication; and provide support and a sense of belonging.

The Hub’s unique program for tweens and teens now has a more flexible format that can fit into more homeschooling families' lives. Core sessions are now three hours long (with breaks), twice a week, with optional extended time for kids to connect informally afterward.

The Hub will be represented at the upcoming VELA Con, a national conference for "founders who are building a future where families and founders own their education," taking place in Washington, D.C. July 31-Aug 2.

From the parent of a child who joined this spring: "He enjoyed the group so much that he was actually disappointed there was a spring break week! It filled a gap in our homeschool life where he is getting to build consistent connections, work and play with other kids his age."

The Hub's spring term wrapped up with group project presentations. These ranged from an 80-page collaboratively written novel exploring profound themes of change and the occasional desire to stop time, to a multimedia e-zine, and a speculative biology "choose your own adventure."
