As a tech lead or eng manager, you so frequently get request from above or from other teams to drop what you are doing and work on this thing they need, *now*. During my 4 years at Uber after asking these questions, 9 out of 10 times it turned out it wasn't really urgent:

Here’s an open secret: most companies adopting an RFC-like processes don’t have a Chief Architect. Not Google, not Uber, not Amazon, not most tech companies. The idea of RFCs and spreading transparency goes against hierarchical decision making which many architects are used to.

3 weeks ago I bought a 5-6ft Magnolia tree. Initially the courier said they didn't have it even though they collected it from seller. After a bunch of emails, I was promised they'd found it & would deliver it yesterday. They didn't. They've managed to lose it again. IT'S A TREE!

So... Apparently, there is yet another new variant of Covid. I know how hard it is to name things (I'm a dev after all), but prepending "new" to "variant" for each variant of Covid-19 gets confusing really quickly... How will we refer to newer variants? "new new variant"? 🤷‍♂️

TIL that wired Bluetooth earphones are a thing... Someone I know bought earphones that look virtually identical to Apple Lightning EarPods from Amazon. But to use it you have to: turn Bluetooth on, pair the earphones & physically plug them in. Otherwise, they won't work. 🤯
