This blew up so this deserves more context! I am brazilian (as is the og post) and the experience for black cats here goes beyond not getting adopted, but also facing genuine prejudice because of superstition!
@illuxtre black cats deserve so much love. they get a bad reputation for literally just existing but they can be some of the sweetest cats ever if you treat them with respect and show them love
@illuxtre Aaah I do hope people aren’t doing this as a trend and they won’t be back in shelters in a month, though :( black cats are wonderful, I wish we didn’t need a movie for people to know this (Sorry I didn’t mean to be negative, I just hope it’s not an easter bunny situation) 🐈⬛❤️🩹

@illuxtre yea, black cats are the least adopted in shelters, and they have the highest kill rate in shelters. good to hear that they're being adopted more bc of flow! go flow cats!!

@illuxtre I love black cats so I was very excited when this outdoor girl started coming up to my house and got to the point of sleeping on my lap Thought she won’t be able to get on my lap for a few weeks because I have a brace on my leg and I feel bad about it 😓

@illuxtre My brother had a black cat who lived a long and happy life until his health complications got too much, and we both loved that cat to no end. he was a complete sweetheart and we miss him every day
@illuxtre When my wife and I adopted our first black cat, the shelter people almost cried happy tears because we wanted to get the adult stray black cat who's been there over a month. He's an annoying dumbass but I love him so much.
