@inthesamedevice How many mph over the speed limit did the cops and news crew drive on their way there? š¤
@inthesamedevice Bikers speeding are self enforced by people screaming at them. Unlike with drivers, people can actually communicate with each other on bikes and foot. They have conversations instead of rudimentary horn honking.
@inthesamedevice Speed limit is 15...they stopped the bikers at 16?! Oh come on...this is ridiculous.
@inthesamedevice But why didnāt they use bike cops really wanted to see a 17 mph pursuit
@inthesamedevice Speeding. On a bike. Are you fucking kidding me
@inthesamedevice When I bicycled, I couldn't say for certain my speedometer was calibrated to a 1 mph accuracy. I put in the tire circumference but never checked it over a known distance. My daughter Robyn was killed bicycling by a distracted speeding box truck driver. youtube.com/watch?v=Xj01jQā¦
@inthesamedevice Important context: the Capital Crescent trail runs from Bethesda to Georgetown on the West Side of DC. It is used almost entirely by old wealthy suburban types. 100% they complained to the cops about āspeedingā cyclists (who, admittedly, are usually pretty rude consultant types)
@inthesamedevice Stupid waste of funds right here.
@inthesamedevice My bike doesnāt have a speedometer, and as far as I know, thereās no legal requirement to have one.
@inthesamedevice how can a cyclist monitor their speed without a legally mandated speedometer?
@inthesamedevice so you now need a speedometer on every bike? ACAB.
@inthesamedevice If bikes aren't legally required to have a speedometer, a ticket for speeding on a bike would not hold up in Court. Also, these cops are why cops have a bad name.
@inthesamedevice i would note that w biking being about 4x more efficient than walking, 16 mph is basically a brisk walk
@inthesamedevice Good job people. A lot of lives saved.
@inthesamedevice Good job stopping these two in the middle of one of the busiest bike trails in the country so they can become an obstruction.
@inthesamedevice Meanwhile on roads we have more road deaths than third world countries like Russia.
@inthesamedevice Most likely this a response to electric bikes and scooters, some of which can reach 70 mph.
@inthesamedevice When most people talk about living in a "nanny state", this isn't typically what's on their radar, but it should be.
@inthesamedevice When car drivers speed people can get injured or killed. Great priorities here.
@inthesamedevice Stopping people for one over the limit is just straight up harassment
@inthesamedevice police officers get very stressed when they see anything resembling exercise
@inthesamedevice Are they going to require speedometers on bikes?
@inthesamedevice Whoās ever idea this was should fired immediately for pure stupidity. What a gigantic waste of time
@inthesamedevice This might be the dumbest use of police ever
@inthesamedevice Is this real? Do police there actually just sit there waiting for cyclists? Wow
