Happy new year. As usual for an IRC related resource, I'm late to the party.

Sorry for the webchat being down. I'm kinda still working on it, although not very intensively because I'm very busy.
The only thing this could help against are nosy people on unencrypted public wifi
Note that most server-to-server links are still unencrypted and that only two servers have the TLS patches applied at the moment
Thanks to @letsencrypt, webchat now supports HTTPS: webchat.ircnet.net — for true privacy, use an IRC client that supports OTR.
@MarinosYannikos Don't know what the status is, though. I've seen him do some work on github. What happened to freenode? @ahfaeroey
The tor blacklist issue has been resolved on at least the open servers Contact the /admin of your preferred servers if you're still affected
Most importantly it isn't Jan 1st, 2015 yet so they're a few days early with this crap. /cc @Keltounet
In the meantime, as @Keltounet pointed out, try switching to IPv6 as a workaround if possible.
IRCnet servers are currently rejecting connections with a bogus "Tor exit server detected" reason due to a faulty DNSBL. Looking into it.
Also, there is a new open SSL IRCnet server. Please direct your client to ssl.irc.atw-inter.net on port 6697.
For a few weeks, irc.ca.ircnet.net has been open to everyone. *** There are 917 users and 0 services on 1 servers Looking good :)
In any case, you can use us.ircnet.net or eu.ircnet.net to get an open server that's closer to you
