The NYT ATC article is wildly accurate with regards to our all time staffing crisis, but my only gripe remains that I’ve worked in two different facilities and I have yet to hear anyone refer to our common watch schedule (2 nights, 2 days, and an overnight) as “the rattler.”

Here’s how I operate: Sleep shitty (kids, puppy, shift work, etc), consume inordinate amounts of caffeine to power through the day, so much so that then I can’t sleep again that night. Repeat. This is my peak final form.

If the NOTAM system outage for both the US and Canada was some sort of coordinated, state sponsored attack, it is without a doubt the dumbest conceivable attempt at cyber terrorism. Now, if this a test, prepping the battlefield, so to speak, I think it’s slightly more concerning.

I got three reports in a row this morning between 4 and 4:30am of…listen, I don’t wanna say aliens…but unidentified moving lights in the sky. Same area, up real high, and it was not orbital in motion. There was nothing on the radar. Heads on a swivel, pilot friends.
