17th century riddle. Martinot clearly made a silk adjustment mechanism, now missing, some sort of pivot beam connecting to adjustment arbor/wheel above dial. Arbor has no taper pin hole. Any ideas/thoughts/pictures!! #horology #clockrepair #restoration #clock #artisan #craft

Status update: reassembly has begun. Here you can see the mechanism which allows for trunk-twirling. I am also being subjected to a battery of tests, including XRF (x-ray fluorescence) to determine the elemental composition of some of my mounts. Watch this space…
