@jeremymstamper My dad held on to a bunch of horses for a friend. Despite knowing nothing about horse riding, he put 6yo me on a separate horse for a ride so I could feel like a cowboy. The horses bolted because of a wild animal, I fell off and nearly died of undetected inner bleeding later.
@jeremymstamper I licked a bar of uranium once. Theoretically I should be dead but hey, I’m still here 😎
@jeremymstamper Visiting Tel Aviv on Oct 7, planned to do a roadtrip through the south (the part that's close to gaza) but didn't wake up early enough. Some of the roads I would usually go on ended up being an absolute war zone.
Gf ran me over with a snowboard and put a one foot cut into my inner thigh. Lost a lot of blood and later had some botched surgeries but was fine. The cut was a few mm away from that huge artery where I would have for sure died if that had been cut because it took ages for rescuers to get me to the hospital
@jeremymstamper I had breakfast at the Windows on the World restaurant in the World Trade Center North Tower every morning except on 9/11 because my wife made me an emergency dermatologist appointment.
@jeremymstamper afghanistan. we got shot at and a rocket landed just behind a chu (where we were sleeping). the only thing between us and the blast was a t-wall
@jeremymstamper Coded for 10 minutes, then medically induced coma for 30 days. Coma was great, afterwards... not so much.
@jeremymstamper Afghanistan. Indirect fire hit near the spot where I was about to be smoking a cigarette. A random interaction delayed me.
Hemorrhaging during labor while conscious is peak primal terror. Your body doing its ancient betrayal thing while your mind watches going ‘this is not supposed to happen.’ The gushing sound is what breaks you. Not the pain, not the emergency, just hearing your body leak like broken plumbing. Suddenly you’re not having a birth experience, you’re audience to hydraulic failure in real time.
@jeremymstamper My appendix was in the middle of bursting by the time they cut me open.
@jeremymstamper driving too fast on the pacific coast highway. the car fishtailed. it was an inside curve so it was fine. but had it been an outside curve with no guardrail ....
@jeremymstamper Dozens of such instances (mostly adrenal crisis with some of heart failure, gastroparesis and rare kidney issues), the latest one was this week. None of them feel particularly interesting.
@jeremymstamper I have a few, but here are two: 1) I had to, for fun and interesting reasons, have my heart restarted 2) had a drunk guy have a full blown PTSD episode and want to kill me while holding a knife to my throat Apparently still alive...
@jeremymstamper I almost choked on a peppermint and my mom had to perform the Heimlich maneuver on me. She was in the shower when it first happened, finished up, and just happened to be heading to the kitchen where I was and accidentally found me
@jeremymstamper Triple vaccinated, winter of death and despair 2021, nephew sneezed in my face playing Mario kart, I could taste it, got covid, might be dead today

@jeremymstamper My mother was pregnant with me traveling with my older brother to Hawaii to meet up with Dad at Pearl Harbor his new duty station. Mon missed the flight and it went down in the Pacific Ocean
@jeremymstamper Nearly got blended up by a combine while playing in a cornfield as a kid. Ran out getting chased by it like in a movie.
@jeremymstamper Umm which one of the 93 times? Don't feel like they'll all fit here 😜 BTW that's why cats 🐈 are obsessed with me 👌🏻 The beginning then: born with the cord wrapped around my leg, the doc said I was the sickest baby he ever delivered. Well sickest one to actually live 🤯
@jeremymstamper As a child in the early 90s, I became seriously ill with what was known as “Shanghai flu.” I had a fever of 105 and the pneumonia was nearly fatal. Shortly after the flu symptoms started, it caused me to develop shingles too.
@jeremymstamper Got blood thinners after being admitted. No one knew I had a bleeding ulcer. 2 days later they made me get out of bed and I passed out. Found out later I lost something much blood I could’ve died.
