#1 Residential Schools have only recently closed with the last one closing in 1996, meaning they were open for over 160 years with the first one opening in 1831.

#6 What was there diet? At residential school, children ate mostly porridge but on Saturday mornings there were Corn Flakes,There was often an unpleasant soup with lettuce and onions in it. They even had beef cut into four-inch by four-inch squares served frozen solid.

8# Did any students escape? At least 33 students are recorded to have died by running away from residential schools. Unfortunately there is no reported cases of anyone surviving by running away.

#10 Did you know The IRSSA recognized the damage inflicted by the Residential Schools and established a $1.9 billion compensation package called Common Experience Payment for all former students. As of March 2016 a total of $1.6 Billion has been paid to 79,309 former students.

#11 Did you know Students at Residential Schools had strict schedules and had many chores to do. In he morning the boys first chore would be to milk the cows, and feed the animals. Then later in the day at work time girls learned to sew, do laundry, cook and clean.

Boys learned to farm, grow a garden and chop wood, some boys learned basic carpentry and shoe repair, and also cleaning groups cleaned there designated part of the school.
