just learned this vs code trick ◆ windows key + tab (control + tab on mac) ◆ instantly switch between your open files ◆ works in cursor too how did i not know this 💀
@joshtriedcoding Nice tip, I use ⌘+option+←/→ most of the time
@joshtriedcoding ctrl + tab => switch tabs within a window alt + tab => switch window within a workspace win + tab => switch workspace
@joshtriedcoding mapping "search for text" to my keyboard has been so so productive i cant live without it
@joshtriedcoding Side-mouse buttons are elite for this Default bindings are: - Back mouse button goes down the stack of previously accessed files - Front one goes up the stack (re-open files you went back from) Works in chrome too to navigate back/fwd through your history
@joshtriedcoding Also, holding Ctrl/Cmd while clicking tabs lets you select multiple files... then right-click to close/save all, pretty neat tbh.
@joshtriedcoding I do this on accident all the time and its very frustrating
@joshtriedcoding WHAT WERE YOU DOING THE WHOLE TIME WITHOUT KNOWING THIS
@joshtriedcoding id be embarassed not knowing that
@joshtriedcoding + if you have multiple tabs open you can hold down ctrl and repeatedly press tab to continue down the list 😏
I always used it to get to the last used file, but I didn't know you can press and hold it for a full menu
@joshtriedcoding works in all browsers as well and you can hold shift to go the other way
@joshtriedcoding Why didn't i know this ? So useful thanks bro
@joshtriedcoding Wait you never knew that? Dude I thought that was how you quick swapped files on your YouTube tutorials…
@joshtriedcoding What are you using for these beautiful screen recordings?
@joshtriedcoding bruh this is the first shortcut you get used to in browser
@joshtriedcoding CTRL + F4 to close them was much more important to me 😂
@joshtriedcoding I have this bound to cmd + backtick (`). Works pretty well.
@joshtriedcoding one of my most-used tricks
@joshtriedcoding wait till you find out about karabiner & aerospaace
@joshtriedcoding what screen recorder do you use on windows ??
@joshtriedcoding Also CTR + (1) will switch to the first tab or any number just like chrome
@joshtriedcoding Wait until you learn cmd + p
@joshtriedcoding this is like how you do it in browser, it comes naturally to me
@joshtriedcoding Option +cmd + left/right arrow keys on mac let you navigate the open tabs as well. Works on browsers, vscode. This shortcut saves me so much time
