These past years have unveiled a litany of tragedies—on markets, ecosystems, societies, and epidemics. Each a stark testament to the inherent unpredictability and tangled interconnectedness of complex systems. We are blinds and ill-prepared at the edge of chaos and order.
Slashing NIH funding won’t end ‘waste’—it creates more underpowered (too small) studies that don’t work. If we want real breakthroughs, we need to invest in well-designed, well-powered research. Rigor + solid funding is how we move medicine forward.
