We’re starting to differentiate “software developers” from “software engineers” and this absolutely nails the difference. An engineer builds software systems that run in the context of people. A developer writes code.

Many of the most successful startups of this generation (Airbnb, Uber, Square, Shopify) reduce the barrier to entry to self-employment/entrepreneurship - it feels like there are many many industries where this approach could be applied
