#Hoplitomella larva in a shallow lagoon of the Medulin Bay, Istria. Stony corals are missing from this area, proving that hoplitomella may drift in the plankton for long distances. #plankton, N Adriatic Sea

Acantharia with long celestite spicules and colorful symbiotic algae. Peculiarity of these radiolarians is that they metabolise strontium, producing strontium sulfate skelet of 10-20 spicules. #Plankton, #Adriatic Sea
