the majority (>50%) of my recent code is AI generated... because the majority of my recent code is tests. AI is allowing me to write a lot more tests. i am not using it for (most) critical logic flows. generally i like this setup.

I once went on a day cruise around Milos (Greece) w my wife on our honeymoon. the bill read “€600,000” we laughed and said yeah right. the skipper was super offended. I had a huge “oh f-” moment. to this day I still do not understand why the bill had three decimal places

IMO the place where people struggle the most w tech interviews is social validation. eg they’re running a background process trying to figure out what the interviewer wants to hear. shut that off. solve the problem & ask questions, externalize your thoughts as much as possible.

pre-seed & seed investors want the idea maze & usually respond well to it. they’re investing in you to figure it out but working businesses are usually pretty simple. “people pay us for X. we grow via Y. market size is Z.” challenge is condensing the maze to the right product.

in a BigCo you never have to face the consequences of adding complexity. there will be other engineers to take care of it, you’re rewarded for shipping the thing. in a startup you’ll personally flounder under the weight of every creation that doesn’t drive meaningful revenue.
