I'm going to uncharacteristically say something nice about C++ and Go here for a second: I really do think the kind of "unidirectional" type deduction they have is the sweet spot as compared to more traditional HM-style type inference. The cost of unification just isn't worth it.
While I tend to prefer keyword-based syntax, the inherent anglo-centrism of choosing an English-based keywords does give me pause. Perhaps a return to the style of Algol, with user-definable keyword locales (and a complete lack of reserved words) is in order.
