I honestly think in 30 years society will look at alcohol like we look at tobacco today. You can already see it starting—Gen Z consumes 20% less alcohol than Millennials did at the same age.

Meanwhile MIT is pushing open access to courses and even bonafide certificates for all. In 1904, Harvard tried to acquire MIT. It was blocked by the MA Supreme Court and the two have been on diverging paths ever since. Thankfully.

There’s a strong parallel between conservatives who don’t believe in vaccines and liberals who don’t believe we can take masks off. Both behaviors are based in fear and both can be overcome by trusting science.

We are foie-grassing startups with VC dollars. What otherwise would have been good businesses if funded appropriately are getting disproportionate VC dollars and the danger… It distorts their execution plan. They hire sales, marketing, CS all with no playbook and implode.

This feels like a good time for a reminder that there are 2 sides to the ad revenue equation: users and ARPU. Wall Street wants Pinterest to gobble up users, but it's worth considering that 400M super-engaged users could be worth a lot more than 600M hard-to-monetize ones.
