When a cashier says “Happy Holidays” to me at the checkout, as a CHRISTIAN, you know how I respond?!?… With a warm smile and a “Happy Holidays” in return. Because I’m not a self-centered midwit who thinks the world revolves around them.
@kevinmyoung The fact that you felt the need to post this says differently
@kevinmyoung Ah, yes, the classic "I’m not like those other people" routine. Newsflash: Saying "Merry Christmas" isn’t about making everything revolve around you, it’s about celebrating the birth of Jesus
@kevinmyoung You probably also took an experimental mRNA gene therapy bioweapon to save Grandpa right? Clown show.
@kevinmyoung I always say Merry Christmas because it’s what I’ve said all my life since I could speak.
@kevinmyoung Oh that’s amazing Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas! To ALL!
@kevinmyoung Christmas begins on Dec. 25 and continues for 12 days. Other holy days lead up to it. A truly knowledgeable devout Christian wouldn’t wish anyone “merry Christmas” during Advent.
@kevinmyoung So many weirdos in the comments. I just say happy holidays. Or Merry Christmas to those I know celebrate it.
@kevinmyoung I couldn’t imagine bragging about being ashamed of my faith. You worship at the altar of woke stupidity, and have the audacity to attempt to shame real Christians for not being little bitches like you? Hell is hotter for those who know better, and who pretend to be pastors.
@kevinmyoung Thank you, from a former cashier 😘
@kevinmyoung Not the Super Christians in the comments exposing how little they care about other cultures and beliefs lol. They're all about religious freedom until it's not centered around their own
@kevinmyoung Everyone should respond however they like. But nice V signal bro!
@kevinmyoung Wow... you sure set off a lot of people. It's amazing how many got triggered in these comments. Thanks for not being a self-righteous asshat. We really appreciate you.
@kevinmyoung You have pronouns in your bio and that makes you a self-centered midwit
@kevinmyoung Sounds like a weak response from someone who would rather cater to other people than stand by your own beliefs
@kevinmyoung A pastor with pronouns in bio says it all….
@kevinmyoung Dude you're soft asf. You could get stabbed by someone in a hijab for saying merry Christmas and you'd probably tell them "thank you."
@kevinmyoung I AM NOT AFRAID OF SAY MERRY CHRISTMAS. I ALSO ADD REMEMBER THE REASON FOR THE SEASON. I AM NOT ASHAMED OF MY LORD AND SAVIOR.
@kevinmyoung ive had several people correct me for saying happy holidays at the library. i just smile and say holidays again and offer the bookmark of all the holidays in december if theyd like one for reference
@kevinmyoung Well technically, in terms of etymology, "holidays" is borne from "holy days". So, you still had a win ;)
@kevinmyoung And your strategy is exactly why people, especially the young lose their way because the foundational aspects of culture are never impacted to them. I say merry Christmas, no matter who says what and whether they like it or not.
@kevinmyoung When someone insists on saying “Merry Christmas” to me in the middle of December, as a CHRISTIAN, you know how I respond?!? … “This is Advent.” 🙂
@kevinmyoung But you sure must think you are special.
@kevinmyoung I said Happy Holidays because it also includes New Years.
@kevinmyoung Except when you tweet about how wonderful you. Then the twitter sphere must come to heal and worship your magnanimous character. Go on please though more tweets about how great you are Caligula.
Saying “Merry Christmas” isn’t self-centered; it’s being honest about the reason for the season and expressing your cultural roots. The holidays exist because of Christmas in American culture. Responding with “Happy Holidays” to "fit in" isn’t kindness; it’s a mix of cowardice and insecurity masquerading as virtue. If people can say “Happy Holidays” without fear of offense, then Americans can say “Merry Christmas” with the same confidence. It’s not about confrontation; it’s about standing firm in your beliefs without apology. There’s no value in claiming a theological viewpoint if you’re too afraid to express it in something as simple as a festive greeting.
@kevinmyoung Love it! Happy Holidays, Dr. Kevin M. Young! And I'm an atheist, but you'll get a Merry Christmas too Why? Because it brings joy and a feeling of togetherness, and man do we need that in these devisive times. My wish this year, is that people speak and listen to eachother again
@kevinmyoung People in Turkey and Egypt said Merry Christmas to me, because they knew I am an American and it was fkn Christmas. The fact that a cashier is TOLD/ORDERED to say "Happy Holidays" during Christmas IN AMERICA is a calamity of biblical proportions. Merry Christmas!
@kevinmyoung Growing up, Jewish friends wished me Merry Christmas and I in return wished them Happy Hanukkah! It was heart felt by everyone. It is not about being self centered or wishy washy, but being sensitive to others and bold enough to say it out loud!
@kevinmyoung This is America, you can say whatever you want back to the cashier. If you’re not being a douche no one cares what holiday greeting you use!
@kevinmyoung That’s great, Dr. I respond “Merry Christmas”. I believe that most of the employees doing this are pressured to say “Happy Holidays” instead under the false idea that they are angering non-Christians. “Happy Holidays” dilutes the significance of the birth of Christ.
@kevinmyoung But also because Happy Holidays covers every person's way to celebrate the holidays.
