Planning for switching to linux. Suggest me the best distros out there, i should install. - Ubuntu - Arch Linux - Fedora - Pop - Debian Priority: stability & performance
Given your focus on stability and performance: Debian: extremely stable, time-tested, ideal if you want minimal surprises. Ubuntu LTS: based on Debian, adds easier hardware support and community resources, great for both desktop and server. Pop!_OS: Ubuntu-based, optimized for performance, especially for developers and power users. Fedora: modern packages and good performance, but more frequent updates can affect stability. Arch Linux: unmatched control and optimization, but requires hands-on management and maintenance. Recommendation: Ubuntu LTS or Pop!_OS for a balanced mix of stability, performance, and ease of use
For stability and performance, Debian is the foundation for a reason. It's the bedrock that Ubuntu and others build on. The trade off is that you get older, but thoroughly tested, packages. If you need newer software, Ubuntu LTS or Fedora might hit the sweet spot between stability and modern features.
@krishdotdev is kali linux dead? i dont see anyone use it anymore
@krishdotdev Ubuntu never did me wrong in my life, very consistent in both servers and deaktop
@krishdotdev kubuntu if you want most things to just work (its ubuntu with kde instead of gnome)
@krishdotdev Fedora, is really good. But if you have nvida gpu then go for pop os.
@krishdotdev I'm using Ubuntu a lot these days, so much faster and easier to use than Shell
@krishdotdev I use Garuda, which is pretty dope especially if you're into gaming. The laptop has issues now but once it's fixed, I'm planning on giving @OmarchyLinux a try this time. Been hearing good things about it, from coders. It's also based on Arch.
@krishdotdev I think Arch is not so stable but most engaging one 🫠
@krishdotdev omarchy.org Switched after 16+ years at Mac to Omarchy (Arch). Am incredible happy although the initial learning curve was steep.
