Been a while, but hey #wildoz birdos, what’s this? Flock moves across town everyday. I would say like clockwork, but I always forget to look at clock. Behaviour makes me think silvereye-ish? Or maybe thornbillish? I’m not great with small birds that I can’t see. Surfcoast Vic. 📢
@kyliesoanes New Holland Honeyeater? They are getting raucous every afternoon around my place, suburban Melbourne.
@kyliesoanes Call doesn't sound like silvereyes. High up in trees? Varied sittellas?
@kyliesoanes Sounds more like Brown-headed Honeyeaters to me, but so tricky with just a short recording!
@kyliesoanes Mixed feeding flock of all the small things?
@kyliesoanes Well theres that many thornbills eg striated, yellow rumped buff rumped brown….if my eye isnt “in” i just call them “brown flitty things”
@kyliesoanes Chances are that this is not the same flock. Huge numbers of these birds are moving into and through the Sydney basin, heading north, right now. Massive numbers move north along the Great Dividing Range this time of year. It's one of our great annual sights of the Aussie bush.
@kyliesoanes i'd guess striated thornbill, but i'm not confident!
