When I worked in France I experienced the same thing. French lessons from school that were buried deep in my subconscious memory would suddenly pop into my head as I processed the language immersively. My brain was linking it all together faster than I could do myself by studying

When creating flashcards, do you you separate cards for homonyms? The Korean word for "plural" is the same as the word for "revenge" (복수 - bok-su). Should that be one flashcard or two?

This is actually kinda true. At least for getting to upper intermediate level mandarin. If you invest heavily with learning characters and vocab, you can get pretty good without ever encountering complex grammar

I've seen a lot of hot takes saying AI will mean people won't learn languages anymore. My hot take is that AI will have a negligible impact on the number of people who actually decide to learn languages. You've been able to get by with technology for a long time.
