I spent hours trying to figure out why my automated #FreeBSD install wasn't working as documented and came to the conclusion that nobody actually uses that feature. It was Bash FAQ 024: (mywiki.wooledge.org/BashFAQ/024). Bug (and bugfix) are here: bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_…

I tried having my knives sharpened at @LocalRoot221 today, and to my surprise the store refused to take my money because I was unwilling to share my email address. Why not just be happy with goods and services instead of trying to violate your customer's privacy for marketing?

So when you sign up for an @AmericanExpress card you get an email that says, "Click the link below to get your Card number instantly". It turns out that is a dirty, dirty lie, but they don't tell you that in the email. Classy.

The automated voice system at @experianhelp_us has hung up on me four times now. Of the three major credit agencies, Experian has been absolutely the worst to deal with by orders of magnitude.

Just finished Notorious Sorcerer by Davinia Evans @cupiscent and it is a fantastic read! It had been sitting around the house while I was trying to finish another book that just became such a slog; finally dropped it in favor of this one and it was totally the right choice!

A view from last weekend's hike to the rocky top of Mount Monadnock. Not a long hike (about 2 miles each way), but at 1700 feat of elevation gain it's a lot tougher than what I usually do. No, I'm not as buff as you are. Yes, I'm fine with that.
