You can literally see the plasma arcing off of starship as it re-enters the atmosphere. Pretty cool.

This contraption is called a High Voltage tap changer. This one is on a 138,000 volt transformer. As the load on the power grid changes during the day, the voltage also changes. This unit will auto adjust to make sure you always have that 120 volts coming out of your house plugs
