I would say, at a local level especially, the starting point is to contact your local elected councillor. If the hundreds of thousands who go on protests also sent letters to their councillors, we'd see real change. Sadly some are more interested in a day out with placards.

One of the best things you could do for wildlife is find a patch in your area and speak to your local councillor about reducing the mowing...then ask again...and again....

This is great, I think if the heritage fund could suggest things like reduced mowing and reduced weedkiller use in the application process, that would be a really useful prompt for local authorities

Despite thinking on the whole you do a good job, I voted green, you have taken no action on environmental emergency, still wedkilling around trees, no reduced mowing, no strategy for nature. I hope this is addresses in the upcoming Preston green space strategy, in not hopeful..

Honestly, if everyone as well as tweeting outrage wrote to their councillor this would stop in a flash. Sorry to be blunt but if you care about this and haven't told you elected representative you care, you aren't doing all you can.
