'You have to be good in math to be a developer' they said. Joke is on you, I don't even know basic algebra 😎
@lovelacecoding 🤣🤣🤣. I know right? Reminds me of when I was teaching a class something with Cubic Bezier recently and we were playing with this weird graph.
@lovelacecoding It depends on what you are working on. In my 20 years of web development experience, I used more intense math only several times. But if you work with 2D or 3D renderings or machine learning, you can hardly pass without math knowledge.
@lovelacecoding Depends, if your backend engineer Maths be be pretty handy in storage and site optimization, not much useful to web developers in general but crucial in AI, Machine Learning and Deep Learning
@lovelacecoding Same here! But logic is where it's at. Also I'm pretty decent with Accounting :D
@lovelacecoding "You have to be good at math to be a good developer." There you go, all fixed.
@lovelacecoding the more math you know the more you can charge as sometimes difficult algorithms involving math are included. so many clients/services do not require difficult algos though
@lovelacecoding I stumbled across bodmas the other day, it's a no from me. 😆
@lovelacecoding To be good at math you just need to be good at logic which is a requirement to be a programmer. Therefore you have to be good at math to be a good programmer even if you deny it. QED
@lovelacecoding @DonDubya200 It depends what you are developing. Math is not much / at all required for web development. But if you are coding machine leading algorithms then you need few math concepts. It depends
@lovelacecoding It is not as much as math itself but more like the problem solving skills and mindset. Math helps with that.
@lovelacecoding Yep! Funny thing is I work in fintech and honestly I get told what maths is needed and in what format, I just plug that in and give it a sanity check
@lovelacecoding Joke is still on you, everyone should know basic algebra, developer or not.
@lovelacecoding Well. I am in Machine Learning and I am the joke.
@lovelacecoding I find maths being the hardest thing for developers💯
@lovelacecoding Of course you can be a developer with no knowledge of math but whether you can be one that everyone wants to hire is another question. Lack of math (e.g. logic) is exposed in code review. The demand over skill ratio these days doesn't allow assessing this hypothesis effectively
@lovelacecoding I'm in this and I don't like it wait...i guess i kinda know some algebra... but not a lot
@lovelacecoding For me math is a must for a good developer. You need to know... 1 + 1 = 2 and not 11 😉😂🤣
@lovelacecoding The only reason you'd need to be good at math as a developer is if you're creating some form of engineering software, or maybe extreme financial calculations.
@lovelacecoding You've not arrived at situation where you'll need maths 😒 I have used maths in some occasions.
@lovelacecoding I bet most people who were expert in algebra have forgotten till now. its of no use for most tech people
