In Machine Armor Zero patch 0.2, effects like pierce and seek work with powers as well as attacks, as long as they are from global sources, such as equipment or passive skills.
In machine armor zero 0.2, similar to diablo 2, blocking is a basic ability as long as you have a shield equipped. Also, you can equip two shields if you want to.
Here is another skill preview for patch 0.2. Originally this was cut from the first version of Machine Armor Zero, but will be making a return as a Drone Swarm skill in patch 0.2

Here is a preview for another skill coming in the 0.2 patch. Annihilation Ray. It takes time to charge up, but does devistating damage. The more you charge, the more powerful it becomes.

In Machine Armor Zero 0.2 there will be 45+ new skills and pilot powers added to the game. For builds that wish to focus on using powers, you can deactivate some of your weapons to increase your energy regeneration rate.
